Our flagship achievement is the <strong data-start=\"250\" data-end=\"306\">Don Bosco Solar Mini-Grid and Green Hydrogen Project<\/strong> in Ashaiman, one of the most advanced renewable energy training and demonstration facilities in the region. The mini-grid integrates <strong data-start=\"440\" data-end=\"504\">579 solar modules with a total installed capacity of 227 kWp<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"506\" data-end=\"538\">664.3 kWh of battery storage<\/strong>, a <strong data-start=\"542\" data-end=\"564\">20 kW electrolyzer<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"566\" data-end=\"586\">10 kW fuel cells<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"592\" data-end=\"620\">1.2 MWh hydrogen storage<\/strong>, providing reliable clean energy while serving as a living laboratory for training, research, and innovation in renewable energy technologies.<\/p><p data-start=\"130\" data-end=\"304\">Beyond the Don Bosco campus, our installation team has completed numerous Solar PV projects that have transformed schools, churches, industries, and communities across Ghana. These include a <strong data-start=\"994\" data-end=\"1006\">49.7 kWp<\/strong> solar system for <strong data-start=\"1024\" data-end=\"1056\">Pax Garments Textile Company<\/strong> in Sunyani, a <strong data-start=\"1071\" data-end=\"1083\">13.2 kWp<\/strong> installation at the <strong data-start=\"1104\" data-end=\"1137\">Child Protection Centre (CPC)<\/strong> in Ashaiman, an <strong data-start=\"1154\" data-end=\"1166\">11.3 kWp<\/strong> system for the <strong data-start=\"1182\" data-end=\"1208\">Tatale Training Centre<\/strong>, a solar-powered water pumping system for the <strong data-start=\"1255\" data-end=\"1287\">Salesian Community in Tatale<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"1293\" data-end=\"1327\">ten rural photovoltaic systems<\/strong> supplying clean electricity to Salesian outstations. The system comprises ten independents photovoltaic (PV) installations strategically located at key sites, including the Provincial House, Guest House, Community Chapel, Hostel, Canteen, Car Park, Auto-Block, Water Purification. These installations are interconnected through a centralized distribution system, known as the <strong>Power Room<\/strong>, located at the Solar Training Centre.<\/p><p>This centralized design enables intelligent energy management, allowing electricity generated by each PV system to be efficiently distributed to where it is needed most. The integrated approach maximizes energy utilization, improves system reliability, and enhances the overall performance and resilience of the mini-grid.<\/p><p>The mini-grid consists of <strong>579 solar modules<\/strong> with a total installed generation capacity of <strong>227 kWp<\/strong> and <strong>a nominal battery storage capacity of 664.3 kWh<\/strong>. Each installation is equipped with battery storage that is appropriately sized to meet the energy demands of the respective building, ensuring a stable and reliable electricity supply during periods of low solar irradiation and at night. The <strong>Power Room<\/strong>, with an installed PV capacity <strong>of 54.3 kWp and 218 kWh<\/strong> of battery storage, serves as the central energy management system, coordinating power generation, storage, and distribution across the entire system.<\/p><p>To promote innovation and practical learning, the mini-grid incorporates PV modules, inverters, and battery technologies from different manufacturers. This diverse technology mix enables students, researchers, and industry professionals to evaluate the performance, efficiency, and reliability of various renewable energy systems under real operating conditions, providing valuable hands-on experience with a wide range of commercially available technologies.<\/p><p>Advanced battery energy storage systems capture excess solar energy generated during the day and supply electricity during the evening or periods of low solar irradiation. This ensures a stable, reliable, and uninterrupted power supply while maximizing the utilization of renewable energy generated on campus.<\/p><p>Designed with a modular architecture, the mini-grid is highly flexible, scalable, and resilient. Additional generation and storage capacity can be integrated as energy demand grows, while the distributed configuration enhances system reliability through built-in redundancy and simplified maintenance.<\/p><p>Beyond providing clean and sustainable electricity to the campus, the Don Bosco Solar Mini-Grid serves as a <strong>living laboratory<\/strong> for education, research, and innovation.
