Course Overview
The Advanced Solar PV Professional Course is an intensive, hands-on training program designed for individuals seeking to develop advanced expertise in Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems. The course builds on the fundamentals of electricity and renewable energy, providing in-depth knowledge of advanced PV system design, sizing, simulation, installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance. Participants gain practical experience with DC- and AC-coupled systems, battery energy storage, hybrid and mini-grid systems, solar water pumping, solar street lighting, and large-scale PV installations. Through competency-based learning and real-world practical exercises, graduates are equipped with the technical skills and confidence to design, install, operate, and maintain complex Solar PV systems that meet current industry standards.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Design and size advanced Solar PV systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
- Install, commission, and maintain DC-coupled, AC-coupled, hybrid, and mini-grid Solar PV systems.
- Configure and troubleshoot battery storage systems, inverters, charge controllers, and other key PV components.
- Use Solar PV design and simulation software to develop efficient and reliable renewable energy solutions.
- Install and maintain solar water pumping and solar street lighting systems.
- Perform system monitoring, testing, fault diagnosis, and preventive maintenance using industry best practices.
- Apply occupational health and safety standards while executing Solar PV installation and maintenance projects.
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
Age: 18–25 years
Educational Background: Basic knowledge or experience in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, or a related electrical field.
Entrance Exams: Applicant who passes the both entrance and interview.
Don Bosco Solar Institute is committed to delivering high-quality, industry-relevant Solar PV training. While Solar Photovoltaic (PV) training is not currently accredited by the Ghana Education Service, our six-month Professional Basic and Advance Solar PV Course is accredited under the German Chamber of Commerce (AHK) network in Ghana.
Upon successful completion of the programme, participants are awarded an AHK Certificate, an internationally recognized qualification that demonstrates competence in Solar PV installation and renewable energy technologies. This certification enhances graduates’ professional credibility and provides a competitive advantage for employment opportunities both within Ghana and internationally.
