Don Bosco Adwa Technical college-Adwa is located at northern part of Ethiopia in the Tigray region. The Solar Centre was a department in the Don Bosco Technical College which was established by Brother Christof Baum in 2014 [Ethiopian Calendar]. Don Bosco Technical college-Adwa training centre facilitates training of all sorts of electrical demographics including but not limited to instructors, electricians, students and others who have interest in the field of solar PV installation, maintenance, and repair. Short courses intended for students as well as “train-the-trainer” course for trainers were also conducted. There was two sifts of training ongoing at that time, Day-shift and Evening-shift, this was directed towards trainers from factories, colleges and other related sectors.

 In addition to this, solar PV training was included as one course in the level two electrical training. In Don Bosco Technical college-Adwa generally had Regular students and Evening students. Both of which undertook these courses for 96hrs.

In Don Bosco Solar training centre all the technical school class rooms, offices, residence of Salesians, and Oratory were and are still powered the installed solar system.

Dilla

Don Bosco Dilla is located in Southern Nations, Nationalities and people region, South part of Ethiopia. This training centre was established in 2014. Don Bosco Dilla training centre was offering courses and training for electricians, students and others who had interest in the field of solar PV installation and maintenance.

 Short courses and one-week Solar water pumping included in the ‘train-the-trainer” course was already conducted and the maximum number of participants were trained in the course.

In Don Bosco Dilla training centre, all the classrooms, offices and residences of Salesians are powered by Solar PV system. In Addition to this Don Bosco Gambella has installed a lot of our Solar PV systems.

Gambella

Don Bosco training centre – Gambella is Located at the South-western part of Ethiopia. This training centre was established in 2014. Don Bosco training centre – Gambella provided solar PV training for electricians, students and others who are interested in the field of solar PV installation and maintenance.

In Don Bosco training centre – Gambella, all the classrooms, offices and residences of Salesians are powered by Solar PV system. In Addition to this, Don Bosco training centre – Gambella has installed a lot of Solar PV systems.

Mekanissa

Don Bosco training centre – Mekanissa is located in the capital city of Ethiopia.  The solar training centre was also established in 2014. The centre providing training for instructors, electricians, students and others who had interest in the field of solar PV system. At the campus, some offices and class rooms are powered by solar PV system.

 Two weeks training program was held for all the federal TVET teachers of Ethiopia. The training was entirely coordinated by Br. Christof Baum, the training program saw the active participation of 26 representatives who came from the various regions of Ethiopia. The training program aimed at equipping the electrical teachers in the various TVET centres to enable them teach Solar technology to their students by solely. It also focused in giving the students enough knowledge, so as to enable them start their own business and get income by installation, repairing and maintenance of the solar system which is gaining tremendous momentum in Ethiopia.
