AC - Coupled System
Course Overview
The Advanced Solar PV module builds on the knowledge and practical skills gained from basic solar training and prepares learners to design, install, commission, operate and maintain more complex solar photovoltaic systems. The module focuses on developing professional-level technical skills required for residential, commercial, institutional and off-grid solar installations.
Learners study advanced PV system design and sizing, including load assessment, energy demand calculations, PV array sizing, battery storage sizing, inverter selection and system configuration. The module also covers different system types, including off-grid, grid-connected and hybrid solar PV systems, as well as the integration of battery energy storage.
Practical training focuses on PV array installation, mounting structures, DC and AC wiring, protection devices, earthing, inverters, batteries and system monitoring. Learners are trained to use appropriate tools and testing equipment to measure system performance, identify faults and carry out commissioning. Attention is given to electrical safety, protection against overcurrent and overvoltage, and safe working procedures.
