Course Overview
The Basic Solar PV module introduces learners to the fundamental principles, components, installation, operation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic systems. It is designed for beginners who want to develop basic knowledge and practical skills in solar energy technology.
The module covers the basics of solar energy and photovoltaic technology, including how solar panels convert sunlight into electrical energy. Learners are introduced to basic electrical concepts such as voltage, current, power, energy and DC/AC electricity. The course also focuses on the identification and functions of major solar PV components, including solar panels, batteries, charge controllers, inverters, cables, connectors and protection devices.
A strong emphasis is placed on practical training. Learners are taught how to assess basic electrical loads, select suitable components, connect PV modules, install and wire a small solar system, and carry out basic testing and commissioning. The module also introduces routine maintenance, troubleshooting and safe working practices, including electrical and battery safety.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the basic principles of solar energy and photovoltaic technology.
- Identify and describe the functions of major solar PV components.
- Understand basic electricity concepts such as voltage, current, power and energy.
- Calculate simple electrical and solar loads.
- Select appropriate basic PV components.
- Assemble and connect a basic solar PV system.
- Carry out basic PV installation and wiring.
- Test and commission a small solar PV system.
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Apply electrical and solar installation safety procedures.
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
Age: 18–25 years
Educational Background: Basic knowledge or experience in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, or a related electrical field.
Entrance Exams: Applicant who passes the both entrance and interview.
