Course Overview
The Solar Mini-Grid & Fuel Saver Training is an intensive, hands-on programme designed to equip participants with the skills to design, install, operate, and maintain solar mini-grid systems for communities, institutions, and commercial facilities. The course covers the fundamentals of mini-grid technology, Solar PV system design, system sizing, installation, commissioning, hybrid Solar PV–diesel integration, fuel saver technology, energy management, system monitoring, performance optimization, and industry safety standards. Through practical demonstrations and real-world case studies, participants gain the expertise needed to implement reliable, efficient, and cost-effective hybrid energy solutions.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Design, size, and configure Solar Mini-Grid systems for various applications.
- Understand the design principles and operation of Solar Mini-Grid systems.
- Integrate Solar PV with diesel generators to improve fuel efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Monitor, control, and optimize the performance of mini-grid systems.
- Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Solar Mini-Grid installations.
- Apply industry best practices and safety standards during installation and operation.
- Deliver reliable and sustainable energy solutions for off-grid and underserved communities.
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
Age: 18–25 years
Educational Background: Basic knowledge or experience in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, or a related electrical field.
Entrance Exams: Applicant who passes the both entrance and interview.
Don Bosco Solar Institute is committed to delivering high-quality, industry-relevant Solar PV training. While Solar Photovoltaic (PV) training is not currently accredited by the Ghana Education Service, our Two (2) weeks Professional Solar PV Course is accredited under the German Chamber of Commerce (AHK) network in Ghana.
Upon successful completion of the programme, participants are awarded an AHK Certificate, an internationally recognized qualification that demonstrates competence in Solar PV installation and renewable energy technologies. This certification enhances graduates’ professional credibility and provides a competitive advantage for employment opportunities both within Ghana and internationally.
